Chapter 1

Brian Robeson is on his way to see his father in Canada. His parents are divorced, and the thought brings him to tears. At one point, he goes to check on the pilot, since he is the only one on the plane, he if offered a chance to fly the plane himself. The pilot comes back indicating that he has some shoulder pain, but insists to take back his job. Brian later drifts off as he starts to think about his parents’ divorce again, and recalls his parent’s court case. In this case, he was summoned to live with his mom during the school year and his dad during the summer, and is in the transition at the moment to his father’s house. Brian is brought back into reality when he hears strange noises coming from the cabin, but little does he know his pilot is having a heart attack. As he comes upon the unconscious man, he tries to signal for help through the radio but is unsuccessful. Bran realizes that the pilot will most likely die, and figures that he will be left alone on a plane, thousands of miles in the air, over dense forests.
