Hatchet #3

Hatchet
Chapter 3
December 15, 2011

As Brian decreases in altitude, becoming ever so closer to the ground, he realizes just how bad of a situation he is in. Once at a certain height off the ground, the land below becomes more defined, and he realizes that the only things down there are trees upon trees. By this sight, Brian is certain that he will not survive the landing. He starts to panic and tries to delay his landing by slowly increasing his altitude to look for a better place to land. However, he knows, in the back of his head, that he cannot fly forever, and he will have to land at some point. Finally, after a long period of searching, Brian spots a lake and finds that this is his only opportunity to land the plane. However, he fears that he will not have enough speed to make it to the lake, as he is starting to run low on fuel. Just as he says this, his plane hits the tree line, luckily bouncing off of it to then land in the lake.  As the water starts to rush into the cabin, he manages to unbuckle his seatbelt, maneuver his way out of the plane, and swim to the surface. He slowly makes his way to the shoreline where he passes out from complete exhaustion.
